The oblong tray with upcurved plain sides, the centre with three detachable inkpot, pen-holder and taperstick with box beneath, each cylindrical with reeded borders and mid-ribs and detachable covers, the taperstick with loop handle and detachable nozzle, the bodies covers and taperstick each engraved with a crest with marquess' coronet above, the tray engraved with a coat-of-arms with marquess' coronet above, marked on side of tray, base and cover of fittings, and nozzle

The arms are Thomas, 2nd Marquess of Bath (1765-1837).
