A FINELY DETAILED 1:48 SCALE MODEL OF THE 16-GUN ROYAL NAVY SLOOP-OF- WAR PELICAN (1781)
modelled by M. Saville from, apple, box and lime woods with masts, yards, stun's'l booms, foot ropes, left and right hand wound standing and running rigging with scale blocks, carved and painted figurehead in the form of of a uniformed soldier, head rails, anchors with bound wooden stocks, bitts, belaying rails and pins, companionways, stove pipe, carved ship's boat lashed in chocks with bottom boards and thwarts, gratings, bilge pumps, deck lights, capstan, sixteen guns in carriages with tackle, deck lights tiller and other details. The hull, with rudder, is copper sheathed to the waterline and finished in blue, red, black and varnish. Measurements overall -- 26 x 33in. (66 x 84cm.) Stand

Descriptif du lot

Originally built by the French as a Privateer, she joined the American Navy and was named Fredrick. Captured by the Royal Navy in 1781, she was renamed Pelican and was sold out of the service in 1783.
