A FINE EARLY 19TH CENTURY FRENCH PRISONER-OF-WAR BONE MODEL OF A 100 GUN FIRST RATE SHIP-OF-THE-LINE
with bound masts, yards with stun's'l booms, standing and running rigging, dolphin-striker, carved figurehead of a soldier brandishing a sword, headrails, boomkins, main and belaying rails, belfry, companionways, carved ballustraded well deck, deck rings, two long boats slung between fore and main masts, twenty-two guns in stepped bone carriages (some missing) and other details. The planked hull with gun ports, gun port lids and retractable brass guns operated from stern cords (one missing), carved stern and quarter galleries with balconies and rudder is mounted on two bone supports set within planked bone base now loosely contained within a glazed case and display base. Overall measurements -- 17½ x 21 x 7¼in. (44.5 x 53.3 x 8.5cm.)
