A FINELY BUILT 1:48 SCALE STATIC DISPLAY MODEL OF A ROYAL NAVY 10-GUN SLOOP DESIGNED FOR USE IN THE BATTLE OF LAKE CHAMPLAIN (1776)
modelled by P. Danks mainly in boxwood, the mast with sail hoops, yards, booms, standing and running rigging with finely carved scale blocks, catheads, wooden winch with ratchet, cleats, bitts, grating, deck rings, bilge pumps, companionways, tiller, six guns in wooden carriages, ten swivel guns and other details. The planked and pinned hull with boarding steps, chainplates, deadeyes and rudder is finished with red painted bulwarks, black main wale, blue and varnish and is mounted on chocks on a display board with copy of ship's plans framed below with bronze and silver medals set alongside, within wood bound plexiglass case. Overall measurements -- 24¾ x 31in. (63 x 79cm.)
