Despite the fact that Lloyd's Registers continually list her master's name as Captain A. Reid (1840-52), this vessel would appear to be the barque Brothers, 329 tons, built for Powrie & Co. at Dundee in 1840. Originally trading out of London to Calcutta, she had changed her run to Ceylon by 1845 although in 1848, by which date she had been sold to J. Soot, she sailed first from Dundee to Odessa and then loaded cargo from Liverpool to Brazil. Still commanded by Captain Reid as late as 1852, she disappears from record shortly afterwards.
