A rare somersaulting teddy bear
with brown mohair, orange and black glass eyes, pronounced muzzle, black stitched nose and mouth, swivel head, jointed legs, brown felt pads and clockwork rotating arm causing the bear to tumble or somersault suspended from two hooks on hand pads --10¾in. (27.5cm.) high, 1920s (one eye broken, half remaining, hand pads with slight holes and arm reinforcing rod protruding from tip of hand)

Lot Essay

This teddy bear was purchased from the Schuco archive auction in the 1970s, the bear is possibly a factory prototype. He also very similar to some Bing teddy bears, he possibly could have been purchased by Schuco to copy.
