Mark of Christian Goll Schifferdecker, Strasbourg, circa 1720
Pear-shaped, on partly-fluted spreading circular foot, the body applied with strapwork band on a matted ground, finely chased above with a band of strapwork, applied with a male and a female portrait bust medallion, the pierced bayonet-fitting cover with bud finial, the body engraved twice with a coat-of-arms with marquess' coronet above, marked on base with maker's mark only

The arms are those of Sugny of Rethel-Champagne, probably for Valentin, Vicomte de Sugny, who married Louise de Sahuguet in 1722.
