A pair of Queen Anne silver-gilt baskets
mark of John Eckford, London, 1703
Each shaped oval, on reeded collet foot, the outcurved sides formed of reeded basketweave, with rope-twist border and two angular rope-twist handles, the field engraved with a coat-of-arms within a foliate scroll cartouche, the reverse of each faintly engraved with a crest, each engraved with number and scratchweight, 'no. 55 33:14' and 'no. 56 33:6'

The arms are those of Harcourt quartering Venables and Vernon with Jenkinson quartering Shuckburgh, Evelyn and Medley in pretence, for Francis Vernon Harcourt (1801-1880) and his wife Catherine Julia (d.1877), eldest daughter and co-heir of Charles, 3rd and last Earl of Liverpool of the first creation (1784-1851), whom he married in 1837. Harcourt was the 9th son of Edward Vernon Harcourt (1757-1847), Archbishop of York from 1807 until his death. (2)
