A RECTANGULAR PARCEL-GILT CENSER AND COVER
Cast six-character Xuande mark, Ming Dynasty, Wanli period (1573-1619)
The front and reverse of the rectangular censer each cast with boys holding flowering branches, the centre with the archaic character shou, surrounded by scrolling flower branches, the sides applied with stylised dragon handles touching a leiwen band at the mouth, the pierced cover with a pair of dragons and pheonixes on each side among clouds surmounted by a Buddhist lion with smaller lions on its back, all raised on four cabriole legs issuing from lion masks at the corners, fissures in legs
