A VERY LARGE IRON HEAD OF THE BUDDHA
Ming Dynasty (1368-1644)
Cast with a calm and serene expression with downcast, tear-shaped eyes and full lips between ears with distended lobes, the forehead inset with a (later) glass bead urna, the hair in tight conical curls with a bald patch below the usnisa, the iron with a dark brown patina, casting flaws in the hair, on plinth
