Each of oblong octagonal shape, the dished top enamelled with the arms of Seton, with crest and the motto HAZARD ZIT FORDWARD, the rim with linked florette border, the tapering side with a continuous garland of flowers

Lot Essay

The arms are those of Daniel Seton. See D. S. Howard, Chinese Armorial Porcelain, London, 1974, p.620. A large part of this service, sold by Robert Seton, was sold in these Rooms, 23 November 1964, lot 133.
