Sculptée sur une haute colonne, la tête, surmontée d'une coiffe en cylindre évasé, est longue et fine, le visage dessinant un coeœur sous le front bombé, les yeux en amandes plaqués de cuivre oxydé, le nez fin descend bas sur le menton oü la bouche était juste suggérée, deux longues oreilles aux lobes distendus et partant des boucles, encadrent la tête, la colonne, symbolisant le corps, sculptée au col d'un ornement pectoral, est à section carrée, légèrement évasée au sommet, terminée en bulbe à la base. Les côtés du fût sont à pans coupés, décorés de motifs floraux

Carved as a tall column, the head is surmounted by a cylindrical head dress, the heart-shaped face with almond shaped eyes with oxidised copper inlay, the nose dropping to the chin, worked with only a suggestion of a mouth, two long ear lobes with earrings frame the head.
These objects were generally placed in the centre of an altar made of blocks of stone. They have been found in the Islands in the Timor region, in various styles. Having been exposed to the elements, these figures have a roughened surface, with channels carved by rain into the softer wood. This ancestor figure is of an unusual size and remarkable for its quality and sensitivity. Its obvious age adds to these qualities and makes this a figure of major importance to the Southern Malucca Islands.
