Lot Essay

Similar pedestals were retailed by the Parisian fim L'Escalier de Cristal run by Mme. Desarnaud and Mme. Charpentier. They were best known for their works in crystal and bronze, but were also known to produce fine reproductions in the Louis XV and Louis XVI styles (See D. Ledoux-Lebard, Le Mobilier Franais du XIXe Sicle, 1984, pp. 190-192).
