A William IV engraved gilt-brass carriage timepiece with calendar

The case engraved with foliate scrolls and a vignette of marching soldiers to the top, beneath a part-reeded handle, the side panels engraved respectively with a group of musicians playing outside a house and a gentleman conversing with two ladies in a hall, the rear door embellished with engine-turning and with a revolving shutter for the winding hole, the tapering columns to the angles also engine-turned and terminating in crown and bud finials (one bud lacking), on bun feet, the dial densely engraved with foliate scrolls, with bevelled glasses to the silvered chapter discs, Roman chapter ring with painted numerals and finely engraved floral scrolls to the centre, blued steel moon hands, with subsidiary engine-turned dials below for day of week and date, the single chain fusee four pillar movement with brass platform to the underslung lever escapement with cut bimetallic balance, maintaining power, signed on the back plate Arnold & Dent, Strand, LONDON 367
