The case with brass handle to a bell top and with flaming urn finials to the angles, with silk-backed cast-brass sound frets to the sides, the lower frets modelled with radiant cherub masks, with scroll-cast quarter frets to the door, on moulded base and raised on brass bracket feet, the 6¾in. wide brass dial with foliate spandrels to a brass Roman and Arabic chapter ring, the matted centre with central alarm-setting disc and tapering square date aperture, cut steel hands, the arch with subsidiary seconds and strike/silent rings conjoined by a recessed plaque signed Rob.t Allam London, the five pillar movement with restored verge escapement with later back cock, pull wind alarm, trip repeat and strike on bell, the back plate engraved with foliate scrolls and with a Chinaman to one side
