Italian text:
Oggi il diciottesimo giorno undicesimo mese anno mille nove cento ottantotto Alighiero e Boetti all'’amato Pantheon.
Talvolta sole talvolta luna - quando le parole sono stanche - tra orizzontale e verticale - scogliersi come neve al sole - lasciare il certo x l'’incerto - seguire il filo de discoso - nero su bianco e bianco su nero - pack perdita d'identitá tutta - la persona e il personaggio - tra l'’incudine e il martello - sragionare il lungo e in largo - cinque x cinque venticinque - mettere i verbi al infinito - verba volant scripta manent - collo rotto braccia lunghe - mille nove cento ottantotto.

English translation:
Today, the eighteenth day of the eleventh month in the year one thousand nine hundred eighty-eight, Alighiero e Boetti at the beloved Pantheon.
Sometimes sun sometimes rain - when words are tired - between horizontal and vertical - melting like snow in the sun - to leave the certian for the uncertain - to follow the thread of conversation - black on white and white on black - a complete loss of identity - the person and the personality - between the devil and the deep blue sea - to babble away about this and that - five x five twentyfive - putting verbs in the infinitive - words fly, writing remains - broken neck long arms - thousand nine hundred eighty-eight.

English translation of Farsi text:
Water is in the jug and we wander around aimlessly with dry lips. The beloved is at home and we look for her everywhere around the world. Characteristic for the happiest and most developed people in the world is its drive for freedom. The present has embraced the one walking around and he who is honest is the bane of life. When one is honest to the present, the heart is darkened. Listening properly shows one the path to wealth. Mankind is always dependent upon charity to one's neighbor. The kelim fell from the roof, but was not damaged. Why did you forget this good omen?
