In his History of the Cambridge University Cricket Club (1902), W.J. Ford records that the first match between Oxford and Cambridge took place on June 8, 1829, two days before the first boat race. Curiously, Ford does not record the above match. However, five of the Cambridge players in the 1828 side are also listed in the above team.
