Soldé 1860, the paper leaf painted with five lively scenes of a variation of the punishment of Cupid, the verso with a cartouche showing putti escaping from prison in the centre and two medallions en grisaille in the reserves, the leaf inscribed 'Ornée par Ed. Moreau' on the right and 'Maison Alexandre 1866' on the left, the ivory sticks finely carved and painted with medieval hunting scenes signed E. The Empress Eugenie lent an 1852 Alexandre fan, painted by Soldé and Moreau with the Adventures of Cupid to the Loan Exhibition of Fans at the South Kensington Museum [now the Victoria and Albert Museum] in 1870
