AN OAK PRESS CUPBOARD, NORTH LANCASHIRE, EARLY 18TH CENTURY
the upper section profusely carved with trailing foliate patterns and a frieze applied with pierced whirls on a red coloured backing and centred with a tablet initialled and dated TKM 1720, with drop pendants below inlaid blocks, with a pair of doors and a central panel, the base with six featherbanded drawers above a central arched fielded panel flanked by similar doors, on stile feet -- 60½in. (154cm.) wide, 67½in. (172cm.) high, 19½in. (50cm.) deep

A related but slightly earlier cupboard (dated 1705) is illustrated in Victor Chinnery Oak Furniture, The British Tradition Woodbridge, 1979, p.486 fig. 4.168. It also has tightly carved meandering foliage and fielded panels.
