A cinnabar lacquer circular box and domed cover
18th century
carved with a scholar seated amongst pine and rockwork within borders of prunus blossom and geometric designs -- 3¼in. (8.2cms) diam; and a further red lacquer box and cover carved with branches of blossoming prunus and gourds reserved with cell pattern, the sides with swastika design, the underside carved with a flowerhead -- 2 7/8in. (7.2cms) diam.
