Repertorium vocabulorum, Basel: Berthold Ruppel, [c.1470]. 2° (290 x 209mm). 147 leaves (of 148, lacks the final blank), 36 lines, gothic letter, initials and rubrics supplied in red, traces of manuscript quiring visible in the first 2 gatherings. (Some worming in the inner margins, at times severe and affecting text in quire [e] and at end, waterstained throughout, edges of a few leaves at beginning and end frayed, f.10 misbound after f.1). 19th-century half sheep (worn). Provenance: Contemporary manuscript index on blank recto of f.1; the Jesuit College of New Orleans (2 library stamps).
FIRST EDITION - another appeared in Paris in 1513 - of Conradus de Mure's (c.1210-1281) dictionary of classical antiquity and mythology arranged alphabetically. It is, moreover, one of very few books signed by Ruppel, the colophon here appearing on the verso of the first leaf. Hain 11642; GKW 7424; BMC III, 715; Goff C-855.34
