An unusual [?]late 18th-Century gaming machine,
unsigned, the clockwork mechanism with a ratchet to three hexagonal pieces of lignum vitae, each side inset with ivory dots to represent the faces of a die, arrranged such that the depression of a lever releases the ratchet and spins the dice, the faces of which are visible through a brass plaque with engraved foliate decoration -- 5in. (12.7cm.) square
