A British 19th-Century mahogany domestic medicine chest,
the double doors fitted with galleries to contain six bottles with stoppers two with printed paper content labels, the central part divided into a gallery which houses four larger bottles with stoppers, one with a printed and hand-written content label, the lower section divided into three smaller drawers with sliding covers, a drawer with compartments and containing a apothecary balance and weights, and a lower drawer sub-divided to contain six bottles with stoppers, and other divisions containing another bottle and ointment and bandage, the back compartment concealed by a sliding panel and containing a further four bottles with stoppers two with paper labels of Fruit Salt and Emulsion of Acriflavine; with brass knobs (one lose), carrying handle and key escutcheon -- 11¾ x 13½in. (29.8 x 34.3cm.)
