A fine 18th-Century lacquered-brass one-draw 1¼-inch miniature refracting telescope
signed on the draw tube Ramsden London, the tube with four numbered positions, the objective lens with threaded dust cap, the eyepiece with four numbered lens set into a rotating disc, also with a lever for two positions engraved O and S which moves a shade into position beneath the lenses, mounted via a compass joint to a thin brass column and turned brass disc with three folding inswept legs terminating in pad feet, the whole arranged to dismantle and fit into a small cylindrical fishskin-covered card case lined with marbled paper -- 5in. (12.7cm.) high
