A late 19th-Century lacquered-brass projection microscope,
signed C.D. AHRENS INVENTOR LONDON, with bulb beneath one end of the horizontal body tube, a diaphragm at the other - objective - end, rack and pinion focusing with rack and pinion fine adjustment to the interior of the tube, vertical mechanical stage, with an adjustable screw arm to tilt the whole instrument to project upwards, with a splayed tripod foot, mounted on a wooden base -- 24in. (61cm.) wide; together with a fitted mahogany case with green felt lining (relined) containing various assorted objective lenses and other microscope accessories
