A fine 19th-Century lacquered-brass folding binocular microscope,
signed SWIFT & SON 43 UNIVERSITY ST LONDON W.C., with rack and pinion eyepiece adjustment, rack and pinion coarse focusing and micrometer fine adjustment, the body tube with two prisms and double nosepiece, with mechanical stage, substage condensor with rack and pinion adjustment, and plano-concave mirror on a tripod stand, arranged to fold away for storage in the fitted mahogany carrying case with stage mirror attachment, forceps and bull's-eye, two lieberkuhn, four eyepieces and a live box, with a drawer beneath containing Swift 1in., ½in., in. and 0in. objectives, an unusual microscope lamp on a folding tripod base, a brass canister of various discs including three clear brass-mounted ones marked RED SELENITE, BLUE SELENITE and MICA, and a number of amateur slide preparations together with blank glass sliders and covers -- 11in. (28cm.) wide; a mahogany case containing various black enamelled accessories for an optical bench; a card box of various microscope pieces, including a Ross 1/8in. and a Powell & Lealand ¼in., each in a signed brass canister; and a number of amateur prepared slides in a variety of cases (A Lot)
