A naive mid-19th Century portable engine
the flat bottomed boiler with over mounted twin oscillating cylinder engine, the valve chest with brass plate engraved O. Rogers Maker Cambridge. Boiler fittings include whistle and regulator valves with ivory handles, water and pressure gauges, weight and lever and sprung safety valve (weight missing), blower and other valves. Engine details include brass cylinders approximately ½in. bore x 1in. stroke, the crankshaft supported on boiler mounted pierced frames, eccentric driven Watt-type governor, linkage and valve, and spoked flywheel, eccentric driven feed pump with pipework and valves and boiler mounted tank, the whole finished in old orange and black paint with brass decoration, and plates engraved Warranted and Patent, and mounted on a simple metal chassis with four metal spoked wheels --11½ x 15¼in. (29.3 x 38.7cm.)
