A Meissen yellow-ground Augustus Rex chinoiserie vase
Circa 1735, blue AR monogram mark, Dreher's X, later gilt metal mount to rim
Of flared form with rounded lower part on a small circular foot, each side painted with Orientals, one side with a standing figure with a fan before a child and a seated man with a parasol, the other side with a bowing figure before a lady with a tray, on terraces before palm trees and flowering plants within gilt and black line quatrefoil cartouches, the lower part with two sprays of trailing indianische Blumen above a gilt band, the interior of the rim with interlocking gilt scrolls and palmettes (scratching to lower part, the rim ground and with two visible rim chips beneath the mount)
