A Worcester silver-shaped sauceboat
Circa 1753
Painted in the famille verte palette with vignettes of an Oriental man holding a rod suspending a basket, a boat on the seas before, and a bird perched on rockwork between flowering branches, within cartouches moulded with flowering branches, the interior painted with a flower-spray below a diaper-pattern border reserved with panels of demi-flowerheads (restored, some flaking to enamels of interior)
6½in. (16.5cm.) wide
