The rectangular top inlaid with a central harbour scene, inscribed VEDUTA DEI SCOGLI DEI CICLOPI, Carlo Cali fece in Catania, surrounded by conforming concentric bands of red marble, black marble, and specimen marble, within a spreading frame, the case inlaid with brass banding, with a central frieze drawer opening to a mahogany-lined interior with sliding leather writing surface and a pigeon hole, above tapering fluted straight legs joined by an X-stretcher, on castors
