This tapestry panel relates to the border designs of the Berlin Grossmogulenfolge, which was based on the more famous L'Histoire du Roi de Chine series that was woven at Beauvais from the 1690s until 1732. Jean Barraband and his son Jean II Barraband are recorded supplying a complete set of the Grossmogulenfolge to Prince Alexander von Dohna in 1713, which remained at Schloss Schlobitten in East Prussia until World War II. A panel depicting The Empress' Audience and another of the Audience from the Grossmogulenfolge was sold anonymously Christie's London, 16 November 2000, lot 131 and 26 November 1996, lot 220, respectively.
