AN ENGLISH COMBINED HUNTING HANGER AND FLINTLOCK PISTOL
Circa 1725
With curved hollow-ground saw-backed single-edged blade double-edged towards the point, and with ricasso carrying on the left side a short turn-off cannon barrel, and on the right side the pan, steel, and steel-spring, iron guard comprising down-turned oval shell chiselled in relief at its centre with a medallion enclosing a monster, and slender knuckle-guard with central baluster moulding, lightly engraved domed pommel, and natural staghorn grips (one cracked) slotted respectively above and below for the cock and trigger (some scattered surface pitting)
