With robust steel bow of octagonal section held by iron retaining loops also securing the shaped iron stirrup, original string, figured walnut gun-stock with cheek-piece, oval white-metal plaque engraved 'C. Van Montagu, arqbr de son A.R. le Prince Phillipe à Gand' on the underside of the marquetry-inlaid hand-rest, chequered grip ending in a carved boar's head, lightly engraved white-metal mounts, fixed back-sight (fore-sight missing), set trigger, and iron rollers for a goat's foot lever
