AN UNUSUAL 50-BORE D.B. FLINTLOCK BOX-LOCK PISTOL
Signed Coombs, Bath, circa 1765
With three-stage turn-off cannon barrels, one numbered '1', signed border engraved action decorated with martial trophies and rococo ornament, engraved thumpiece safety-catch, large engraved sliding trigger-guard safety-catch connected to the cut-off for the left touch-hole, figured walnut butt inlaid with flowers, foliage and scrollwork in silver wire heightened by a single silver panel engraved with a flower-head, and silver grotesque mask pommel (iron parts with scattered wear and light surface pitting), London proof marks and Foreigner's mark
