The first with flat head of characteristic form, bifurcated at the top into a straight spike and hook, triangular fluke, and two upturned lugs (one missing), stamped on each face with circular marks, on later wooden staff; the halberd with flat curved axe-blade, down-sloping fluke, and later wooden staff (pitted throughout); the pike with diamond-section head etched 'Manufactured by the Wilkinson Sd Coy London', 'Marina de. Chile', ' Sir W.G. Armstrong Whitworth & Co. Ltd', and open-ended ferrule on the butt; the spontoon with leaf-shaped blade, two side-straps, and later wooden staff
