A SCOTTISH BASKET-HILTED BROADSWORD
Second quarter of the 18th Century
With tapering flattened blade stamped with four king's head marks of the Wundes family of Solingen on each side of the forte and the signature 'Andrea' on one side and 'Farara' on the other, short ricasso, iron guard of Glasgow form composed of fluted bars of rectangular section involving incised fretted panels pierced with circles and stylised hearts, fluted pommel, remains of the original wooden grip (wormed), and remains of the leather liner (some surface rust)
