Early 19th Century
With twist barrel (acid cleaned) with iron blade fore-sight, block back-sight with single hinged leaf, bayonet mount on the right side of the muzzle, flat bevelled lock with 'GR' crowned and crowned broad arrow mark above the maker's initials 'RW' beneath the pan, the tail engraved 'Tower' (cock retaining screw replaced), walnut stock (bruised, minor chips) struck on the butt with storekeeper's mark dated 1800, regulation brass mounts, brass escutcheon, iron sling swivels (one replaced), and later iron ramrod, the tang of the butt-plate numbered '6/78' and engraved '3 95 RT', for '3rd Battalion, 95th Regiment' (some wear and surface pitting, two barrel-bolts defective, one missing), King's proof marks
