Corroded capsules, one cork slightly raised. Good, slightly bin-soiled labels. Levels: one into neck, one base of neck, five top, one upper/top, one upper and one mid/upper-shoulder
Tasting note: 1961 vies with 1945 as the greatest of all the claret vintages of the latter part of the last century. A classic Latour, monumental in scale, with its component parts supercharged, in abundance. Still deep in colour; nose-filling fragrance; surprisingly sweet in the palate but still very tannic. A fabulous mouthful now; another half century of life MB (2002).
