Château Latour--Vintage 1955
Pauillac, 1er cru classé. Château-bottled
Slightly corroded capsules. Bin-soiled, dusty and some torn labels. One with plain capsule, vintage stated on label. Levels: one base of neck, two top, two upper/top, four upper and three mid/upper-shoulder
Tasting note: A top Latour vintage, far superior and better balanced than its '53. Still a lovely colour with "copybook" Latour bouquet and, unlike some of the massive Latour vintages, very approachable. Lovely flavour, balance and length. Unless one has the misfortune to come across a corked or badly kept bottle, about as fautless as any wine can be approaching it half-century. MB (2002).
