Modelled by Anton Carl Luplau wearing a conical black hat, long-sleeved puce coat with scroll ornament, yellow sash and red shoes, holding a parrot on a branch in her left hand, on a puce scroll-moulded pad base (hat restored)

Lot Essay

This model was first produced in 1773. For the example in the Herzog-Anton-Ulrich Muesum, Brunswick, see S. Ducret, Das Frstenberger Porzellan (Brunswick, 1965) Vol. III, fig. 184. This figure, described as 'Eine japanische Frauenfigur mit einem Papagei' was model number 240 produced at the factory.
