An Austrian gilt-brass quarter-striking and repeating travel clock with alarm, circa 1780
The breakarch case with scroll handle to the top, knop finials to the front and fret-pierced rear door, on bun feet (one lacking, one later), the painted enamel dial (hairline cracks), with Roman and Arabic chapter ring, signed Hoffman Tyrnau, with pierced gilt-metal hands and alarm-setting disc to the centre, repeat/not repeat ring to the arch, the movement with chain fusee going train and spring barrels for the alarm and strike trains, now with French platform lever escapement on the back plate stamped HOSER BUDAN, with alarm and strike on two bells, repeat to the side of the case -- 4 1/3in. (11cm.) high to hilt of handle
