A Victorian ebonised and gilt-brass quarter-chiming small table clock, circa 1880
The case with gilt-brass scoll sound frets to a waisted pediment with bud finial, foliate cast floral sound frets to the sides, with female bust mounts to the front angles, on brass bracket feet, the dial with foliate spandrels to a silvered Roman and Arabic chapter ring and signed on a plaque Dent 61, Strand London, with matted centre and blued steel hands, with subsidiary rings in the arch for chime/silent and Westminster/Eight bells chimes, the triple chain fusee movement quarter chiming on eight bells and with hour strike on gong, with pendulum holdfast and repeat signature to the back plate -- 14¾in. (37.5cm.) high
