An early Victorian mahogany and inlaid longcase clock, circa 1840
The hood with dentil cornice and satinwood bands, the bowed trunk door with satinwood inlaid urn and with foliate mouldings above and below, flanked by bead and reel mouldings, the stepped plinth raised on toupie feet, the 13½in. white painted dial with equestrian scene to the arch entitled The Stirrup Cup, seasonal spandrels, the Roman chapter ring with subsidiary seconds and date rings, pinned directly to the four pillar movement with anchor escapement and rack strike on bell; cheekboards built up, case possibly associated to dial and movement -- 86¾in. (220cm.) high
