A George III Scottish mahogany and inlaid longcase clock, circa 1815
The line inlaid hood with brass-capped swan neck cresting, outset part inlaid polygonal columns, ebony and satinwood inlaid three-quarter columns flanking an inlaid and cross-banded shallow-arched trunk door, with satinwood panel above, the plinth with central bats' wing patera and conforming spandrels, on bracket feet, the 13in. brass dial with cherub mask and foliate spandrels to a silvered Roman and Arabic chapter ring, the centre engraved with leafy sprigs an ho-ho birds, with subsidiary silvered seconds and date rings, later engraved brass hands, signed on a silvered disc in the arch Gordon Perth, the movement with four tapering pillars and anchor escapement with rack strike on bell -- 84½in. (214cm.) high
