HANDMADE 'SCARLETT' BED DOLL
Circa 1940s
An oversized doll depicting Scarlett created in the 1940s as a 'bed doll' which would typically be displayed on a guest bed -- a trend that was particularly popular in the American South. With composition-material limbs and a stuffed cloth body, this doll has long hair, a hand-painted face, fingernails and shoes and she wears her vintage clothing including a cotton dress with a blue floral print, white cotton pantalettes and a straw hat. Additionally, a vintage heart-shaped locket reading Gone with the Wind hangs around her neck.
