A pair of 12-inch (30.5cm.) diameter table globes, the terrestrial THE NEW TWELVE INCH BRITISH Terrestrial Globe, REPRESENTING THE ACCURATE POSITIONS OF THE PRINCIPAL KNOWN PLACES OF THE EARTH. FROM THE DISCOVERIES OF CAPTIAN COOK AND SUBSEQUENT CIRCUMNAVIGATORS TO THE PRESENT PERIOD with corrections and additions to 1817 Manufactured by T.M. ecliptic poles, the axis through the celestial poles, the equatorial graduated in degrees, hours and minutes, the four colures graduated in degrees, the ecliptic graduated in days of the houses of the Zodiac with sigils and twilight zone, the constellations depicted by mythical beasts and figures, the stars shown to seven orders of magnitude plus nebulae and labelled with numbers and Greek characters, both poles with printed hour dial (some darkening, some repairs with slight detail loss); both spheres with engraved brass hour dial and meridian circle, the papered horizon ring showing degrees of amplitude and azimuth, compass directions, and days of the month and of the houses of the Zodiac, raised on four curved mahogany quadrant supports to central pillar and three inswept legs with pad feet, united by cross stretchers to glazed compass box with blued-steel needle and brass cap and engraved paper (stands French-polished, celestial compass box later)
