Morris Rosenfeld (1885-1968) founded the most successful American maritime photography firm. His natural talents were schooled with darkroom work for James Burton and Charles Bolles (he later bought their estates collections) and with photographic assignments for Edwin Levick. He became Levicks rival and equal in the 1920s and completely dominated the field after Levicks death in 1929.
