Lot Essay

The schooner Rodman R. Nickerson was built in 1889 at Boston, Mass. Her gross tonnage was 509 and her dimensions were 160.9 ft. x 35 ft. x 13.6 ft. She was owned by G. B. Reynolds the leading grain and corn merchant of Newport, R.I.. She was named for Master Capt. Rodman R. Nickerson. She met her fate ashore off Stone Harbor, N.J. with stone cargo. Her crew were saved.
