A SUPERB SONGYE MAGIC FIGURE
Standing on domed base, the cubistic body with the arms carved free of the body and the hands each side of the abdomen, a small cavity at the centre of the mouth which has carved teeth, pierced septum to the nose, deeply carved eyes below overhanging brows, double band of notched scarification to temples, a copper pin inserted at the centre of the forehead, deeply incised coiffure, a horn inserted in the top of the head, the toes projecting over the edge of the domed base, string of large blue and white glass beads about the neck, dark oily patina
