Lot Essay

This group is modelled after an Italian Renaissance inkwell of a similar composition. An example was sold as lot 66, Works of Art from the Wernher Collection, July 5, 2000. It was attributed to the circle of Desiderio da Firenze (1532-1545). Statuettes of this nature are also attributed to Riccio and his workshop.
